Down a side hall adjacent to the main sanctuary of the Duomo di Milano, these towering Gothic columns stand with a stoic presence, forming the structural foundation of the cathedral and supporting the carved buttresses above. The grandeur and scale of the interior allowed me to reflect on how small I felt among these “giants”—not only because of their physical size, but also because of the extraordinary craftsmanship of the architects and artisans who devoted their lives, skills, and faith to creating this monumental work.
This image stretched me as a photographer as well. Capturing the full breadth and length of the columns within the shadowed sanctuary required patience—waiting for the crowds to thin, finding the right frame, and navigating the constant interplay of natural and artificial light throughout the space. The image continues to draw me back, whether through the scale of the doorway at the end of the hall or the quiet clarity of the stained glass, still present even in black and white.

Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for delivery after payment is received. We take great care in the packaging and shipping of your fine art print. The customer pays for all shipping costs. All sales are final; Roman Russo does not accept refunds, returns, or exchanges. We are unable to make changes or cancellations to an order more than 24 hours after it is placed.
If your artwork arrives with any damage, please reach out to us as soon as possible.
