The layout of Florence’s historic center invites unexpected moments. Its narrow streets and closely set buildings create a sense of shelter, almost like blinders, until on certain streets, you emerge from a Renaissance canyon into the immediate presence of the Duomo in all its scale and splendor. The experience is both overwhelming and mesmerizing.
I am always struck by how the city seems to cradle this immense structure, yet can never contain it. The Duomo rises with an authority that defies its surroundings, asserting itself no matter how closely the streets press in around it.
This image was taken just after dawn, when the streets are still quiet, and the city is only beginning to stir. From this vantage point, the façade slowly warms in the early light, revealing stonework, texture, and subtle shifts in tone as the sun moves across its surface.
It is a perspective I return to each time I am in Florence, allowing the building’s majesty to reveal itself anew with every visit.

Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for delivery after payment is received. We take great care in the packaging and shipping of your fine art print. The customer pays for all shipping costs. All sales are final; Roman Russo does not accept refunds, returns, or exchanges. We are unable to make changes or cancellations to an order more than 24 hours after it is placed.
If your artwork arrives with any damage, please reach out to us as soon as possible.
