After a treacherously rainy evening, the streets of Milan were freshly washed by the night’s onslaught. As I moved through the city the next morning, the streets were waterlogged with the remnants of rainfall, creating bright, reflective surfaces that immediately caught my eye.
On a side street just off the Piazza Duomo, near the Galleria, this anonymous building was emitting a light so clear and striking it felt almost like a beacon, quietly beckoning passersby to pause and look in. With bright sunshine illuminating the repeating modillions above and the casting shadows across the façade below, the reflection transforms the puddle into something resembling a portal—less a mirror of the street and more an opening into another visual plane.
In this disordered convergence of stone, light, and water, the reflection asserts its own reality, momentarily eclipsing the centuries-old pavement beneath it and inviting the viewer to step, visually at least, somewhere else entirely.

Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for delivery after payment is received. We take great care in the packaging and shipping of your fine art print. The customer pays for all shipping costs. All sales are final; Roman Russo does not accept refunds, returns, or exchanges. We are unable to make changes or cancellations to an order more than 24 hours after it is placed.
If your artwork arrives with any damage, please reach out to us as soon as possible.
